Shockvertising is often controversial and/or disturbing.

According to Wikipedia – “Shock advertising or Shockvertising is a type of advertising generally regarded as one that “deliberately, rather than inadvertently, startles and offends its audience by violating norms for social values and personal ideals.”

I was recently part of a discussion regarding the VW ad below.  I found the ad to be outstanding, and the deployment in this situation to be clever.  Not everyone I was with felt the same way.

Take a look at the ad and post your comments below.  Did you find it offensive in anyway?

I felt that they accomplished their goal of capturing attention in a tasteful manner.  There was no usage of anything on the too graphic side, no foul language or anything of that sort.

I think the ad hit the mark and I wish I would have thought of the idea.

I am interested to know what everyone else thinks.
